Baseline, NV1, NV2 Clearances

SIRRAS Consultants undertakes entry level clearances (Baseline); Negative Level 1 clearances (formerly SECRET); Negative Level 2 clearances (formerly TOP SECRET) and POSITIVE Vetting Security clearances (PV). We undertake initial, revalidations and show cause at each level and undertake related security services such as PV Security Appraisal Forms, Change of Circumstance Forms, Review for Cause, and Procedural Fairness. Each clearance level gives a level of assurance and reducing the likelihood of the 'insider threat'.

Sirras Consultants has the resources to conduct checking actions, as required and as applicable, including:


    • National criminal history checks (through the Australian Federal Police, AFP)
    • Bankruptcy Checks (through ITSA)
    • Verification of education (through the relevant educational institution)
    • Verification of work experience (human resource areas, supervisor interview)
    • Eligibility to work in Australia (through Dept. of Immigration and Citizenship – DIAC)
    • Verification of Australian Citizenship (through DIAC)

Security vetting services

Positive Vetting Clearances

This is the highest security level granted by the Australian Government. A Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance will allow the holder to access classified information and resources at all classification levels, including certain types of caveated and codeword information. It is both an intensive and intrusive process. SIRRAS Consultants has experienced and qualified PV Assessing Officers undertaking assessments of Clearance Subjects requiring a PV Clearance, whether this be an upgrade from an NV clearance, an initial clearance at the PV level or a revalidation of an existing PV clearance.     Sirras Consultants was a part of developing the Australian Standard AS4811-2006 and our philosophy is to partner with our clients and add value to their existing recruitment processes. We do not become involved in selection of the most appropriate candidate for a given role based on selection criteria. We do collect and evaluate relevant information to assess a candidate’s background allowing the client to make a better informed decision. Our checking actions may include:

    • Personal enquiries verifying information provided by the candidate,
    • Document enquires verifying identification documents provided by the candidate,
    • Database enquiries: searches of local and international public, regulatory and proprietary databases to ascertain adverse mention of the candidate or conflicts of interest which may affect a candidate’s ability to appropriately meet their duties and responsibilities,
    • All checking actions are undertaken with the full knowledge and consent of the candidate
